Assistant Federal Defender

Travis Poindexter is a criminal defense attorney who has been working as a public defender in State and Federal Court for 18 years. A graduate of the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in 1997, Travis spent five years working in the Jackson County Public Defender’s Office representing clients charged with every grade of felony in Missouri. In 2001, Travis graduated from National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia.

Travis has spent the last thirteen years working as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Western District of Missouri handling both trials and appeals. In 2010, Travis was selected to serve on the Federal Practice Committee for the Western District of Missouri. From 2014 to 2015, Travis served as the Committee Chair. Travis has been a faculty member for the Missouri State Public Defender Trial Skills Training Program as well as the National Federal Defender Training Program. Travis has also presented at numerous continuing legal education programs within the Western District of Missouri.
