Lesley D. Smith is Kansas City native and a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law. Lesley entered law school after earning her MBA overseas. Lesley entered law school with a focus on business and corporate law, however; during her third year of law school she interned at the Tulsa County Public Defender's office. It was there that she witnessed first-hand the disparities in the criminal legal system, at that point, Lesley knew that she would dedicate her career to fighting on behalf of indigent defendants. After returning to Kansas City, Lesley began representing indigent defendants in both Missouri state court and federal court. Lesley has tried numerous cases to verdict with great results including acquittals.
Lesley was a member of the 2019-20 Missouri Bar Leadership Academy, and serves as the Vice President of Jackson County Bar Association and on the Missouri Supreme Court Commission for Racial and Ethnic Fairness.
