Becky Kurz graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review. From 1992 to 2007, Becky worked at the Missouri State Public Defender System representing indigent defendants and death-sentenced clients in felony appeals and post-conviction cases. Becky spent seven years in private practice, where she continued to focus on criminal law. In 2014, Becky joined the Federal Defender’s Office for the Western District of Missouri as a Research and Writing Specialist. Becky was awarded the David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award by the Missouri Bar Foundation, and she received the Atticus Finch Outstanding Criminal Defense Lawyer Award presented by the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
